In Memory of Illustrious Brother John Ed Moyers, 33°

Illustrious Brother John Ed Moyers, 33°, was born Friday, November 28, 1930, and passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017.

He attended Fern Creek High School and the University of Louisville. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War; was employed by General Electric Co. for 34 years; and was an active member of Beargrass Christian Church, where he served on the church board for several years.

He was very active in the Masonic Fraternity. He was a member of Buechel Lodge #896 F.&A.M. where he served as Master in 1959. He was the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky in 1976-1977.

Ill. Brother Moyers served Scottish Rite Freemasonry in numerous offices and capacities for many years. He served the Valley of Louisville as Commander of the Council, as well as Secretary of the Valley of Louisville. He was the Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the Orient of Kentucky from 1991-2009. John went on to serve the Supreme Council in the House of the Temple in Washington, D. C., and was Secretary General of the Supreme Council for several years.

He was also active in York Rite Masonry, Kosair Shrine Temple and many other Masonic Organizations.
