Knights of St. Andrews Officers and Summary
The Knights of St. Andrew, Order of the Thistle was created as a “service organization” to assist the Valley in all of its day to day operations. The first chapter of the Knights of St. Andrew was created in 1993 by the late, ILL. Weldon Good, 33rd of the Tulsa Valley in Oklahoma. Brother Good saw that there was a need for an organization or “Chapter” that could help the valley in participating in its reunions. Currently, there are Chapters all over the country that assist their Valleys in numerous disciplines.
The Knights of St. Andrew, Valley of Louisville Chapter, help out in many ways, including but not limited to: conferring the 29th Degree Knight of St. Andrew, participating in the 32nd Degree as the “army”, participating in other degrees as needed, greeting and assisting guests during family meetings and special presentations, fundraising, and any other duties requested by the Secretary/Registrar.
The Knights of St. Andrew (KSA) was also developed to help guide new Masters of the Royal Secret, 32ndDegree Masons (black hat members) in becoming acclimated to the Scottish Rite. Oftentimes when a Brother joins the Scottish Rite, he is unsure of how he can become involved with the Valley, so the KSA provides an opportunity for that Brother to learn about the Valley, and to become directly involved with its operations. Many KSA members find enjoyment within the smaller group of men, and go on to become active Brothers and officers in various other bodies within the Valley.
